Studio Explorations
2025 — Exploring portraiture and cinematic photography, with a focus on refining technical skills in studio lighting, set design, and styling. Combining fashion, makeup, and collaboration with other creatives, this work leans toward a surrealist, cinematic aesthetic, while continuing to draw inspiration from city life and social justice work.
2024 — Developing fiber-based portraiture alongside photography inspired by city life and social justice. Creating shared spaces of safety for those who have experienced violence or loss of bodily autonomy, while experimenting with self-directed and collaborative approaches. Began to invest in a studio space separate from the home environment. Continued documentary photography work with NASA, traveling to capture the 2024 solar eclipse.
2023 — Expanding into collage-based fiber arts within shadow boxes, combining metallic threads, beading, dried flowers, layered fabrics, and watercolor. Parallel mural installations and astrophotography informed by a Colorado mountain residency, exploring movement, clouds, and streams alongside themes of social justice and healing. Began documentary photography work with NASA, traveling across the country to document the 2023 annular solar eclipse.
2022 — Fiber explorations in embroidery hoops and early collages using fabric layering. Created mural installations while continuing to draw inspiration from astronomy and issues of social justice around sexual assault.
2021 — Experimenting with wearable technology in altered clothing and embroidery hoops, embedding sewable Neopixels to evoke flickering constellations. Continued astrophotography, integrating themes of astronomy, fashion, and social justice.
2020 — Photographic experiments with abstraction: UV light, multiple exposures, scanners, and long-exposure techniques. Influenced by astronomy and fashion, these works formed the foundation for later explorations in science-inspired art. Began to embroider through a self-taught, self-directed approach.
2019 — Experiments with astrophotography using a telescope and solar filters. Inspired by working at a planetarium and being surrounded by scientists, this practice grew out of an early fascination with the awe and scale of the universe.
